As part of Shanghai's One City, Nine Towns suburban development project, an Italian styled district was built in Pujiang, 16km from the center of Shanghai. It covers 15 sq/km and has capacity for 80,000 people, but hardly anybody lives there. As of now, there is only one convenience store, one restaurant, and nothing more. The place is currently one of China's ghost cities, though this may change as Shanghai continues to expand, it's population rises, and living in the suburbs becomes more appealing, well connected, and practical.
