▪ PRP, Platelet Rich Plasma, is blood plasma that has been enriched with platelets. As a concentrated source of autologous platelets, PRP contains (and releases through degranulation) several different growth factors and other cytokines that stimulate healing of the bone and soft tissue.
▪ Platelets include many essential growth factors (PDGF, FGF, EGF, TGF-β, VEGF, and IGF) that
hasten the cell regeneration and the wound healing.
▪ The Buffy Coat contains platelets and most of the white blood cells, making up less than 1% of the total volume of the whole blood.
