Beschreibung

Sohrai is the biggest and most sacred festival of the Santals. Long ago the God of the mountain, Marang Buru had blessed the Santal people with cattle for agriculture and livelihood. He told them to respect the cow as mother and the bull as father because a cow provides you with milk and a bull works hard to support your agriculture.

Every year, this festival is celebrated in remembrance of that divine occurrence when the Santals pay homage to their gods and their ancestors and also worship their cattle.
