The Pandemic Crisis and the World Economy: Is this time different?
Is the Covid-19 crisis different from previous global economic and financial crises? What are the main causes and consequences for the world economy? What lessons can we learn? This presentation will analyze the key elements of the current crisis and highlight some policy implications. The spillover effect and the symmetric aspect of the pandemic will be discussed, along with its negative impact for the economies worldwide: the demand and supply side effect; the disruption of the global value chain; the crash of the stock market; the main sectors involved by the lockdown; the monetary policy response; the fiscal policies; the current outlook and the global uncertainty.
