T.S. Amjath-Babu currently works as Agricultural Economist (Modelling and Targeting) at CIMMYT, Dhaka and is involved in a portfolio of projects in South Asia. Before joining CIMMYT, he worked as international consultant for CIMMYT, CCAFS and ICIMOD. During 2004 to 2010, he completed PhD and Postdoc in Agricultural Economics from Justus Liebig University of Giessen, Germany and subsequently worked as a scientist at the Institute of Socioeconomics, Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research, Germany until 2015. He was also the recipient of DAAD fellowships for PhD and Postdoc and worked at FAO, Rome under Carlo Schmid fellowship programme. Amjath’s works focus on understanding sustainability transitions ensuring food, environment and livelihood security in multiple countries of Asia, Africa and Europe and he has published more than 40 articles in international journals. He led a recent CGIAR publication of food system impacts of COVID -19 in Food Security journal and is involved in coordinating a FAO-CGIAR assessment of COVID-19 impact on Food and Nutrition Security in Bangladesh.
