On February 23rd, 2021, Dr. Viola Störmer presented some of her work on crossmodal attention. In her talk “Orienting attention to salient sounds enhances visual perception”, she presents behavioral and neurophysiological evidence showing that orienting spatial attention to sounds enhances visual perception of co-localized visual objects, even in situations when the sounds are task-irrelevant.
Viola Störmer is currently Assistant Professor at Dartmouth College and heads the Perception, Attention, & Memory Laboratory. For more information on her lab’s work, check out her website: https://sites.dartmouth.edu/stoermerlab/
