At the end of her mission to Niger, Dominique Hyde, UNHCR’s Director of External Relations, met with Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Marco Mendicino, for a virtual conversation about the situation in the Sahel and the continued importance of Canadian refugee resettlement in the face of COVID-19. After visiting UNHCR’s operations in Niger, Dominique Hyde shared her observations on the situation of displaced populations in the region, while also discussing with Minister Mendicino the role played by Canada for vulnerable refugees.
