Due to the awesome response to our 'first encounter' RD-9 video, we were highly encouraged to take a deeper look into this stunning drum machine. No secrets so far. Just works fine live and in the studio. And as you can hear, the sound is absolutely satisfying. Despite the fact that we are real oldskool guys, we both have a penchant for the new enhanced mode. And yes: the step buttons tend to suck a little, but you’ll get quickly used to them! So far, it’s no comparison to the keys on an DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor. On the other hand, the sound of the RD is way better!I also recommend using the single out rather than the mono, because there’s no way to pan the instruments. As I remember, the TR-909 and the TR-707/727 had a stereo-out, where at least, some instruments were decently arranged in panorama. And why is there only one single output for open and close hihat? This is the same on the original TR-909, but it was a drawback already back in the days.

Finally, we thought that you all love this original vintage TB-303 sound. This time, Stefan put his own pattern together before the session, which was done faster than light!
Would you like to see a special TB-303 programming tutorial? I definitely would like it! :-)

In this video again, I welcome my old friend Stefan Braatz, who is widely renowned for being highly addicted to all those machines with a *0* in the middle. This made him produce a multitude of records and remixes all along through the world of 'traditional' house music between Berlin and Chicago. Back in the late nineties he established his emblematic imprint 'Adapter-Records' which soon became cult on vinyl. Nowadays, Stefan is releasing on labels like Pokerflat, Robsoul, Exploited, Kingstreet, Nite Grooves and SoulDeep and remixing and producing with artists like Tyree Cooper, Oliver Dollar, Lady B, Eric D. Clark, Merwyn Sanders from Chicagos’ Virgo Four amongst many others!
