Cocktail of vitamin C, thiamine and hydrocortisone in sepsis: still a place after VICTAS?

Michelle Gong from New York discusses the results from the VICTAS trial in which 501 critically ill patients with sepsis received a “cocktail” of vitamin C, thiamine, and hydrocortisone or placebo - there were no significant differences in the assessed outcomes. Prof Gong discusses the rationale behind this treatment and reflects on the need for a more personalized approach by identifying and using predictive biomarkers to detect which patients may be more likely to benefit, not only for this cocktail, but also for other interventions in sepsis.
