New Model Y production is starting very very soon. Tesla Model Y pre-production at the company’s Gigafactory Texas seems to begin as predicted. Recently, an insider shared that the American-based electric automaker is aiming to begin its first test and calibration of the Model Y electric SUV in early August, specifically this week. As it stands, the automaker’s plan seems to have gained momentum lately, hinting at the beginning of pre-production operations at the plant.
Recent drone images show just how prepared the Tesla’s vehicle plant in Austin, Texas is for Model Y test production. As per the images, the test vehicle production machines appear calibrated and ready to test the Tesla Model Y assembly. A close look at the images also reveals that a couple of Model Y test vehicle body frames are in line at the body shop, with a primer coat applied to some vehicles. However, the frame inside the body shop is prepared, maybe for a primer to be applied to the metal, next. Pre-production tests of Model Y will help train employees who will be working on the production line. Earlier this month, Giga Texas insider informed that street-legal Model Y production could start rolling out in about two months. On assumption that the insider is accurate and barring any contingencies, Tesla Model Y production at Giga Texas could be operational either by the end of Q3 or beginning of Q4 2021.
