Comparing the 2021 Tesla Model Y and the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E

I had the opportunity to compare the 2021 Tesla Model Y with the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Both are great cars and would serve the same purpose for most drivers.
I found the Mach-E to be more efficient than the Tesla. The Mach-E took 41kW of charge in 25 minutes. The Tesla took 40kW of charge in 25 minutes. Both were on a 150kW charger.
Efficiency was also a factor when planning a trip. The Mach-E showed it could travel 259 miles and arrive at 6%.
The Tesla showed it couldn’t travel the same 259 miles without charging. It showed it would arrive with -3%.
The Tesla has much more cabin space in the rear and the Frunk ( front trunk ).
The Mach-E has adjustable vents. The Tesla did not.
Overall it was a pretty close match. Tesla, fell short in efficiency on my charging test and navigation range. The seats in the Tesla, also were uncomfortable and there was significant road noise. Tesla’s access to the Frunk was much easier to access. Tesla offers Sentry security monitoring.

The Mach-E, offers blind spot indicators on the mirrors, 360 camera view, cross traffic alerts when backing up, quiet cabin with low wind noise and road noise, foot activated truck opener, key fob or phone as key option. You can also activate voice commands by saying “ok Ford”.

Performance, they both kicked out a 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. The Mach-E caps off at 113mph and the Tesla continues climbing. Both are similar in performance.

It was a close comparison. I suggest you take them both for a test drive and make a decision for yourselves.

I prefer the Mach-E over the Model Y, due to the comfort, quiet cabin and low road noise. The sound system also sounds much better. The efficiency is slightly better on the Mach-E.

I’m just a regular consumer with a simple breakdown of EV’s.
