Berlin's Landwehr Canal was full of fed-up quarantiners this Saturday, as flocks of people took time in the sun to set up picnics and canoe across the water.

Footage shows groups of locals flouting recommendations to remain indoors, dangling their feet off the canal walls and painting a perfectly familiar picture of the city in the springtime.

Police have been patrolling all parks and public locations to enforce social distancing rules, which come with fines of up to 500 Euros (roughly 550 USD) if violated.

Cases of coronavirus in Germany are nearing 125,000, though Berlin is by no means the worst-affected region.
