I am making this video because of the situation on the market today. I am always active on the market, so I noticed right away that something is wrong.
Whenever I tried to put some buy orders, I was constantly met with the “servers are too busy, try again later”.

Now of course you know that this is nothing new for steam this happens from time to time when some big event happens. Well, this time around there is no event happening, as I looked, the number of items sold today before this market lag was the same as yesterday, and yesterday the market was working fine.

We discussed it a little on the discord server and came to the conclusion that the only logical reason why this would be happening right now is that Valve is upgrading their servers, as a precautionary measure in trying to prevent something like the RMR sale server crash from happening again. The amount of people involved in the community market is growing higher and higher, but Valve’s servers were not, and the RMR event coming into an overpopulated market that is already on the edge waiting for the next big thing to happen, was too much to handle for the servers. Valve actually lost a lot of money in those 2 days when the market was down. People weren’t able to buy and sell and if we take a look at this post from r/csgomarketforum by the user Fjedjik about the fact that there have been almost 29 million cases unboxed in the past 30 days, and if we count up the total time when the market was down it would be about 24 hours over the course of a few days. In those 24 hours valve has lost about 2.5 million dollars from key purchases that didn't happen, and even if people were able to buy keys, they surely weren’t able to buy cases.

Of course I have no inside information, this is just a possibility, and the point of the video is to let you know that you are not the only one experiencing problems on steam for no apparent reason. Best you can do is give it some time and try buying or selling from time tp time to determine when the market is back up.

Also, besides the community market servers, the Counter Strike Global offensive servers were also partially down, as players had to wait upwards of 20 minutes to get into one competitive game, but this might be because of totally different reason, like that fact that people who were waiting for the broken fang discount to buy a pass are probably activating their passes at this moment. And playing through the missions.
