VIDEO INTRO:

The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms was Founded in 2010 as a voice for freedom in Canada's courtrooms.

Their website states, I quote, that “...the mission of the Justice Centre is to defend the constitutional freedoms of Canadians through litigation and education. They fight for Canada to become and remain a free society, where the equality of all Canadians and their individual freedoms are celebrated and respected.”

The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, established in 1982, names as fundamental rights for all Canadians things such as freedom of conscience and religion, freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression including freedom of the press and other media communication, freedom of peaceful assembly and the freedom to move freely in and out of Canada and between provinces. When they began in 2010 who would have known how important fighting for these fundamental rights in Canada would become, and how fast.

Currently the Justice Centre has grown to a 16 person staff and their slate is full of cases from sea to sea. Here with me today is John Carpay. He is the President of the JCCF and was called to the bar in 1999. Since that time he has been an advocate for freedom and the rule of law. He is here to today to give us an update on some of the cases they are working on and what we can do as average citizens to also defend our fundamental rights as Canadians.
