Thioredoxin interacting protein (TXNIP) is also known as Thioredoxin binding protein-2 (TBP-2) and vitamin D3 upregulated protein 1 (VDUP1). Scientists in Germany found that TXNIP/TBP-2/VDUP1 expression is dysregulated in Corona virus 2019 (covid-19) inflected human cells. TXNIP is known as the central regulator of aging process in humans and other species. TXNIP is the most critical determinant of diabetes and diabetes related complications. TXNIP is also an important regulator of cardiovascular diseases. TXNIP is a well known tumor suppresor for many human cancers. TXNIP plays important roles in carcinogenesis, cancer progression, hypoxia and malignancies. TXNIP plays important roles in the blood clotting process. TXNIP. Mitochondrial translocation of TXNIP works as the most critical signal for elevated ROS generation, mitochondrial damage, inflammasome activation and for initiation of inflammatory processes. TXNIP plays important roles in the T cell biology including T cell activation, T cell exhaustion and T cell death. TXNIP/TBP-2/VDUP1 may fit in the role to linked up all the pathologies related with the responses after the infection with corona virus-2019 or covid-19.
