German Red Cross aid prepares to take off to Beirut

(8 Aug 2020) The German Red Cross (DRK) prepared a plane with aid for Lebanopn to take off Saturday from Berlin-Schönefeld Airport.
The relief flight on behalf of the German Foreign Office carries more than 40 tons of relief supplies worth around 1.2 million euros.
Four days after the devastating explosion in Beirut, the relief flight is scheduled to land in Beirut during the night.
The goods include first aid kits, dressing materials, blankets, tools for setting up emergency shelters, kitchen utensils, buckets, hygiene packages as well as medical supplies and Covid-19 protective equipment such as masks and protective suits.
Furthermore, volunteers of the Lebanese Red Cross are to be supported.
The German Federal Foreign Office is supporting the DRK with more than 1.5 million Euro.
