Police have cordoned off a residential complex in the town of Goettingen after more than 100 residents tested positive for COVID-19.

Officers were seen guarding the entrance at Groner Landstrasse early on Monday.

Residents of the building were tested for the coronavirus a week ago after the first two positive cases were confirmed.

On Saturday, at least eight police officers were injured in clashes with residents protesting against the restrictions.

Strict quarantine measures for the complex are set to last until June 25.
