Firstly, thank you to those who have generously donated and/or purchased mola face masks hand-sewn by Indigenous Kuna women in support of our project. This video is a thank you. . . to show your kindness in action helping families in Panama. 100% of mask sales and donations go to supporting this great cause. We hope to keep it up for as long as we keep receiving donations, for the need is still there.
The Pandemic has been very difficult for many communities in Panama, a country that has been a second home for me since 2010. March 2020 I helped start a GoFundMe Campaign with my friend, Victor Peretz, Kuna and Panamanian, founder of LocalinPTY and LocalinPTY Kids Program, to provide immediate and ongoing support to families. Generous donations (by YOU, perhaps!) allowed Victor and his crew of volunteers to deliver food bags to hundreds of families in and around Panama City, as well as to some communities in Kuna Yala. Then the Kuna women started sewing their beautiful mola face masks, and we've been selling them very successfully in Panama, the U.S., Canada, and Germany. Some of the money from the mask sales goes directly to the Kuna women sewing them, while the rest goes to buying food bags for other families.
This video is from earlier in August, a delivery day in a community outside Panama City, called Las Garzas. More than 60 families received food bags, as well as materials to decorate T-shirts for the kids. They were so grateful. Thank you!!
