International flights to US, France & UAE set to resume from today | Maldives, UK & Germany to Open

1. According to Puri, Air France will operate 28 flights between Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore to Paris from July 18 till August 1 while United Air will operate 18 flights between Delhi, Mumbai to Newark till 31 July.

2. The concept of air bridges is based on reciprocity with the said countries allowing Indian citizens to fly into their borders and India allowing their citizens to fly into its borders.

3. The minister further said India was planning to establish a bubble with the UK soon, under which there would be two flights per day between Delhi and London. “We have requested from German carriers to permit flights to India and we are processing it,”

4. The ministry also said, "Indian carriers operating repatriation flights to bring Indian citizens from UAE to India will be allowed to carry the ICA-approved UAE residents (returning to UAE from India) on the outward journey from India to the UAE."

5. Bookings are open only for people carrying a resident permit for UAE.

6. It is very likely that India will be establishing an air travel bridge or air bubble with the Maldives. The Maldives, which reopened recently for tourism, was shut for four-month-long months due to the Covid-19 crisis.

7. The Maldives’ economy is primarily driven by tourism, and this makes up 70 percent of its GDP.
