International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8 every year around the world. It is a focal point in the movement for women's rights
IWD 2021 campaign theme: #ChooseToChallenge A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day. We can choose to challenge and call out gender bias, discrimination and stereotyping.
What is International "Women s" Day?
Two important things:
a. Celebrating achievements and women’s contribution in all spheres of life.
b. Unitedly choose to challenge the indiscrimination towards women in all walks of life.
- International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
- We mothers daughters, sisters and grandmothers, great grandmothers should remain firm united to freedom we stand not for our sake alone but to the rights of the generations of women yet to come.
- This day gives us an opportunity, to find the progress in the family, society and work place contributed by women.
- we acknowledge the contribution and participation of women in the economy and decision making. Millions of women still live in condition of poverty unemployment. They face discrimination and violence all the time.
- The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements.
- Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let's all choose to challenge.
- Women leaders and women’s organizations have demonstrated their skills, knowledge and networks to effectively lead in COVID-19 response and recovery efforts.
- Today there is more acceptance than ever before that women bring different experiences, perspectives and skills to the table, and make irreplaceable contributions to decisions, policies and laws that work better for all.
- Majority of the countries that have been more successful in stemming the tide of the COVID-19 pandemic and responding to its health and broader socio-economic impacts, are headed by women. For instance, Heads of Government in Denmark, Ethiopia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, New Zealand and Slovakia have been widely recognized for the rapidity, decisiveness and effectiveness of their national response to COVID-19, as well as the compassionate communication of fact-based public health information.
