“This leaves me speechless. Your talent is just overwhelming!”
Dr. Max Stern, Jerusalem, Israel (Professor Emeritus Ariel University) Max Stern composed for Rebecca Rust & Friedrich Edelmann „Songs of Ascents“ for Cello & Bassoon, as well as „Laudations“ for cello, bassoon & piano.
“Judging from the many compositions selected, in a diverse variety of styles,
performed with technical mastery, and artfully presented - it becomes evident that Friedrich Edelmann and Rebecca Rust have transformed the odd combination of bassoon and cello duo into a standard musical ensemble worthy of attention and recognition.”
Rufus Olivier, San Francisco, California, U.S.A. (Principal Bassoonist San Francisco Opera Orchestra & Ballet Orchestra)
Fantastic! Actual dynamics!! You both sound and look great.
I like your tempo on the Mozart duo.
Rebecca is amazing! So are you!!
You guys play together so well, people may think you live together.
Love the Bach!

“Rebecca and Friedrich are two incredibly talented musicians that we in the Bay Area of California have had the joy of hearing perform at the women's Faculty Club at UC Berkeley several times. They are a fine example of how talent and humility can go hand in hand. It is soothing to the soul to hear them now when Oakland is under lockdown for Covid-19, and in addition there is horrible destruction, defacing, and looting going on as a spinoff from a peaceful protest.”
Dipl.-Psych. Jörg Marxen (Psychologischer Psychotherapeut, Braunschweig) & Dr. Isa Bredemeier, (Psychotherapeutische Praxis, Burgdorf), Germany
Gelungen ! Wir haben begeistert applaudiert. Ganz herzliche Grüße von Jörg und Isa

Dr. Laurence Sherr, Professor of Music, Composer in Residence, Kennesaw State University, Georgia, U.S.A. In this e-mail of June 9th Laurence Sherr talks about his third composition in preparation for the Duo, after his finished ones „Khayele’s Waltz“ & „Elegy & Vision“ for Cello & Bassoon
What a marvelous performance with great playing from both of you. Very well executed, both expressively and technically, including some fast and challenging passages. Rebecca, your warm and rich tone quality was on display as always, and Friedrich, I especially noticed your amazing breath control, especially in many lengthy passages with little time to breathe or clear the reeds.
I liked the variety: beide um die ganze Welt UND durch die Jahrhunderte!
As I have been thinking about your playing while preparing the new piece for you, the concert was instructive as well.
I have just today completed the 1st draft working by pencil and keyboard, and will now enter it all into my music composition program.
Best wishes,
Laurence
