#Homsing Timung, General Secretary, Bangalore Karbi Society (BKS) sharing about the journey of BKS and lending their hands in whatever possible way in different times of problems and crisis that has been through in the city to our tribesmen.

While sharing with KAToday, he talked about the challenges and testimony that had encountered and experienced during this ongoing Covid-19 pandemic there in Bengaluru. Many students from Karbi Anglong who were admitted in different institutions for varied academic programs in the city faced a hard time to take decision during this unprecedented crisis. He also addressed about the working sectors while maximum numbers from Karbi Anglong are in Bangalore as well as in different parts of Karnataka state where they are engaged in different areas of manufacturing and production industries like clothing, chemicals, food construction, hotel, security guard and few are into IT industry and many more. Soon after the shutdown began, both the students and the workers/employees had to endure tremendous troubles like right mentorship, assisting faculties, institution fees, ineffective online classes, jobless, family burden and so on.

Talking about the testimony, on behalf of BKS he extended deep gratitude to the organizations like North East Solidarity, North East Welfare Association of Karnataka (NEWAK) and Assam Society of Bangalore for their unending support since day one of lockdown till today. He also thanked Dr. Rini Ralte for all time encouragement and guidance while supporting us in each and every issue to tackle the situations smoothly and lead us the right path. Lastly, he extended the warmest gratitude to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) for providing them with financial assistance and moral support during the lockdown days.

“There were many Karbi youths who had already returned to Karbi Anglong while some are also eagerly waiting to return back. It is glad to learn that these youths are now aimed to work in their own native district with whatever abilities and skilled gathered from the city. Therefore, KAAC needs to be more concerned about the future of these aspiring youths,” he concluded.
