The International Olympic Committee reminded competitors and participants about their long-standing ban on protests and political statements. Anyone who raises a fist or takes a knee during ceremonies in the Tokyo ceremonies this summer could be punished. Civil rights activist and Olympian Dr. John Carlos, who raised his fist at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City, joined "Start Your Day" with Sharon Reed to discuss the ban. "It appears they haven't learned anything over 53 years," he said, citing that the International Olympic Committee has not made changes to the policy. He said he has no regrets about raising his fists and he would do it all over again today.
