This video serves as the second of two introductory lectures for a course on Questioned Digital Documents. It considers the legal contexts in which forensic science occurs. It remind the viewer of the need for scientific objectivity regardless of the legal framework in which forensic science is practised. It proceeds by considering various configurations of legal contexts: adversarial/inquisitorial, criminal/civil, common law/codified law, jury/judge (or bench) trials, and so on. Finally it explores the historical origins of these systems.
