This week, we first go to the local market in Dar Es Salaam, then go to Bagamoyo district, which plays a significant role in Tanzania's history.

We continue to explore Tanzania with my mother. We buy Dera, the local African outfit for ourselves from the market. We try the soup that Tanzanians drink for breakfast. We visit the town of Bagamoyo and learn about slavery in Tanzanian history.

The town of Bagamoyo served as the capital city of Germany's Colonial Rule in East Africa in the 19th century. The town was also one of the most important trading ports on East African along the Indian Ocean.

Slave trade in East Africa was officially prohibited in the year 1873 but continued surreptitiously to the end of the 19th century.

Bagamoyo is a ‘’place of memory’’ for human suffering and humiliation caused by Slavery and the Slave trade and the imposition of European colonialism.
