Ok, so you've tried the Anbernic Guide on installing Steam OS 3.1 as found on their site here, https://win.anbernic.com/download/169.html. But you can't get it to work as it gets stuck at an "Update Error" message.
All is not lost, what you need to do is spam the A button until it finally works and you're presented with the Steam Login Screen.
