During Covid Times tenor saxophonist Iman Spaargaren, double bass player Stijn de Wit and drummer Henning Luther started their 1.5 meter sessions at a very special cultural spot in Amsterdam: the Goethe-Institut.
With the mere ingredients of their instruments and musical creativity they travel through space and time to find new ways of approaching Jazz standards and originals. As vehicles for musical exploration they serve as a means to express deep felt feelings about the current state of affairs. The intimate ambience of the 18th century “Grachtenzaal” at the Goethe-Institut inspires to search for their inherent beauty, meaning and power.

Iman Spaargaren is a multi-reed player, arranger and composer. He has a distinctive way of playing and a very personal tone on his horn. Over the past years Iman has been busy with a wide variety of music groups such as Undercurrent Trio, StarkLinnemann Quartet, EyeMan All Stars and Pelican Three. In 2019 Iman released High Tide Low Tide on Flea Boy Records with Undercurrent Trio featuring Guillermo Celano and Marcos Baggiani.
"Iman Spaargaren sorgt mit seinem Tenor für heisse Exkursionen" (Hans-Jürgen Schaal, High Fidelity)
"Spaargaren excels in strong melodies and lyricism" (Jan Jasper Tamboer, Jazzenzo)

After finishing his music studies in Weimar Germany and Amsterdam, drummer Henning Luther worked with o.a. Used To Be New with Itai Weismann, French Jazz violinist Didier Lockwood and German tenor saxophonist Gerd Dudek. Henning is active as session musician in Amsterdam.

Stijn de Wit plays double bass. With just as much passion, he plays both traditional jazz and free improvisation music. He always looks for interaction, adventure and spontaneity. As a sideman Stijn played with a variety of musicians in the national and international jazzscene.
