► Tesla Model Y With 4680 Battery Leaked & Other News:
Tesla officially started deliveries of the Made-in-Texas Tesla Model Y at the Giga Texas Cyber Rodeo on Saturday.
Those deliveries were presumably to employees as the Design Studio still doesn’t list the 2022 Tesla Model Y Standard Range AWD variant that was discovered at the event, and recently added to the EPA website.
It looks like that will change soon. Today Tesla has begun updating the source code of their online configurator to add the new variant.
The changes were discovered by Tesla owner and enthusiast tesla_adri, who noted the range and acceleration figures for the new Model Y variant were updated to match the 279 mile (449km) range and 5 second 0-60mph acceleration that was listed by the EPA.
Unfortunately the piece of information everyone wants to know, the price, was not included among the changes.
Currently the Long Range variant starts at $62,990 USD, so we expect it to be several thousand below that price.

► The introduction of the 2022 Model Y to the UK helped propel the electric SUV to become the top selling car in the UK in March, even when taking into account internal combustion engine cars.
According to data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, a total of 6,464 new 2022 Model Ys were registered last month, the first full month the car has been offered in the UK.
Not to be left behind, the Model 3 was the second most popular car last month, accumulating 6,457 registrations, just seven fewer than its big brother.
The closest competitor, the budget-friendly Vauxhall Corsa, which starts at around £15,000, was nearly 1,000 units behind the two EVs with 5,515 registrations.
With the strong sales in March, the Model Y and Model 3 sit in sixth and seventh place respectively in year-to-date sales.
Tesla’s rising sales were in stark contrast to the overall car market in the UK, which saw its weakest March since 1998 with registrations plunging 14.3% to 243,479 units.
