Is Tesla a Luxury Brand? If so, how does it stack up against other luxury brands when it comes to servicing your car? Watch this video to find out.
I recently visited a Tesla Service Center and I want to share this experience with you. My friend just took delivery of his beautiful Model Y Performance and he had some issues with it and decided to take it to have these issues corrected.
First of all I would like to thank all of you that have used my referral code to order your Tesla vehicle. Thank you for supporting this nano small channel!
I think the referral program is awesome because it gives you 1000 free miles of Supercharging and it gives me 1000 miles as well.
I often get asked in the comments if I consider our Model Y a Luxury car. But what makes a car luxury?
According to Cars.com, luxury cars often use higher-quality interior materials and have features that aren't available on lower-priced models - engines or (motors in this case) transmissions, sound systems, telematics, safety features - and are packed with more amenities. They also may have more sound insulation, high-quality body parts and aluminum or carbon fiber components instead of steel.

So far so good. I believe that our Tesla Model Y Performance holds up pretty well in most of these categories. Another aspect that sometimes makes a car Luxury is its price and the lowest priced Tesla is the Model 3 Standard Range Plus which starts slightly below 40 thousand dollars.
I've owned many cars, brands like Lexus, BMW and Audi, which are considered luxury brands. These brands offer more services when bringing in your car for service or maintenance such as loaner cars and various concierge services. One aspect that sets these and other luxury brands apart is their installations. Usually their waiting areas are pretty nice lounges with complimentary drinks, coffee, snacks and continental breakfast, big screen TV's comfortable seating areas and things like valet parking and most importantly, a fast and efficient check in check out system. Well, our local Tesla Service Center did terribly at all of this. But this is just one experience at one Service Center. Please let me know in the comments if your local Tesla Service Center is better than the one we visited.
I tried to document my friend's experience and his testimonial. In some parts of the video the audio is not great so I apologize for it but I think watching this will help you get a better insight about the Tesla Experience.

The ownership experience is more than the car itself and you have to take the good with the bad. And just like in my opinion, one of the reasons we chose to go with Tesla was their Supercharger Network, I have to include Tesla Servicing to the overall rating of the brand so that you get a better insight of what it is like to own one of these vehicles. I rate this experience pretty low. The Tesla Service Center is located in a business park and the whole operation looks disorganized and logistically flawed. Nothing against the people that work there, it's the whole thing that needs revision to bring it up to level with the competition.
But the good news is that Tesla vehicles require very little maintenance in comparison with other cars so I won't have to go back too often.
