"Charnel Gnosis" is Thaumaturgy's debut void-gazing death/doom EP. A pure dismal experience with influences from Incantation, Demoncy and dissonant, crushing riffs.
Althought the opening riff will absolutely destroy your eardrums, this EP does take a little bit to pick up some pace before it reaches it's absolute peak.... But afterwards? Shit, you're not ready for that. Non-stop vertigo-inducing tremolos played along tight and perfectly matching drumming. The atmosphere the band created is incredibly claustrophobic and desolate, truly a spawn of the void, making you feel small and powerless. Cascading riffs and otherwordly leads that take you in a out-of-body celestial experience.
Cryptal and funeral would be 2 words that could be used to describe Thaumaturgy's first chasmic experiences. They went to the pits and back just to share these riffs.
It didn't click for me in the first listening, it might not click for you at first either. But do yourself a favour and do not sleep on this.
