It was one of the most spectacular jewel heists in German history. Now, a court has handed prison sentences to five men, accused of breaking in to the Green Vault in the city of Dresden in November 2019 – stealing some 4 thousand 300 diamonds and other gems, valued at over 100 million Euros. The precious stones were part of jewellery dating as far back as the 17th century. During the trial, some of the accused cooperated with the prosecution, leading to the recovery of a large part of the loot.
