Political and historical maps are an essential part of most social science subjects. But how do we use them efficiently in the digital age? What opportunities does digitalisation offer to the education sector to make classroom lessons modern and interactive? The mission of Ostellus is to provide technology which enables everyone around the globe to browse through history in an intuitive and simplistic, yet expressive way.

Ostellus is a software platform, which provides a framework for browsing, visualizing, and teaching in the context of human history. We have developed a data model for combining geospatial, temporal, audio-visual, numerical, and textual representations of historical information. This is the basis for our two products:
