The Berlin Circus Festival Online Edition offers a creative-artistic space that reacts to the critical needs of the artists during the pandemic and creates possibilities to stay active and experimentally explore one's creativity.

"Wiener Teppich" is one of the selected creative digital works that have been realised in 2020 around the topic of contemporary circus.

'KreativKultur' are the creators of the work.

In the course of COVID-19, a 250 metre long red carpet – originally intended for a performance – is cut into pieces of different sizes and thus transformed into mobile stages in two Viennese social housing complexes. The image of artists and residents on a piece of carpet stands as a metaphor for “physical distancing” and at the same time for a unifying action that overcomes the barriers between the participants. The short film is also a contemporary portrait of two important municipal and social housing projects in Vienna, including their special architecture and, above all, their diverse residents.
