Yannis Beltekas & Alvin Dean (George Dalambiras) - Ghosts [Demo, 1984]

Here‘s a track recorded by Yannis Beltekas and George Dalambiras aka. Alvin Dean from the group Statues In Motion in the summer of 1984 - a year after S.I.M. had disbanded. It was recorded at Yannis' house on a Fostex 4-Track recorder and a Korg Poly61 synth. The picture was taken during those sessions.

It has been rumored that George might be the singer of the „Most Mysterious Song On The Internet“. Yannis, who was so friendly to provide the picture and audio recording, doesn‘t recognize the mysterious song. However, the session proves that George/Alvin has been musically active AFTER Statues In Motion had ended. According to Yannis, George initially came to do backing vocals for some songs Yannis had recorded (demos for a new album that never came to be), then they went on with some ideas George had or just jammed while the tape was rolling. George was disappointed with what had happened to SIM, was working a day job and was contemplating going back to Australia. Yannis told him maybe it was the right thing to do, since by then English singing bands in Greece were on a steady decline in demand. When those recordings ended, Yannis moved abroad for a while and never heard from George again. He had heard the rumors about his death, but says that a couple of years ago he stumbled upon a Facebook comment from an Australian lady who said she knows him and he's alive and well and living there. It’s possible that he just doesn't want to have anything to do with that phase of his life anymore.

Yannis himself has been falsely reported as dead a few years ago, which you can read about here:

Because of the lack of evidence about what happened to George, the alleged Facebook comment and the history of false death reports in this particular music scene, it‘s entirely possible that George is still alive and could shed light on whether he sang the song or not.

Additional info from Yannis:
- He does not remember using a Yamaha DX7.
- George never mentioned any friends in Berlin.
- He believes that George probably would have used an alias for future recordings.
- His initial answer was that IF it was sung by George, it would have probably been before SIM (impossible due to the DX7 time frame), because his singing voice in 1984 was different, more „sustained“ and professional sounding - as evidenced by this recording.
