Though heavyweights Real Madrid and Juventus were shown the door from the UEFA Champions League in the round-of-16 stages, Indian football fans still have some exciting clashes lined up for them in the quarter-final round starting August 13.

After seeing off Serie A side Napoli 4-2 on aggregate with Lionel Messi starring at Camp Nou, La Liga giants FC Barcelona will take on Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final.
The Bavarians saw off Premier League side Chelsea comfortably, winning 7-1 on aggregate to set-up a repeat of the 2014-15 UEFA Champions League semi-final.

Serie A side Atalanta will be up against Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, after both the sides had booked their UCL quarter-final place before the COVID-19 outbreak had stalled the competition midway in March.

While Paris Saint-Germain had upstaged German giants Borussia Dortmund 3-2 over two legs, Atalanta had gotten the better of Valencia 8-4 on aggregate.

The only other La Liga side in the competition, Atletico Madrid will face Germany’s RB Leipzig in the UCL quarter-final.

The most surprising Champions League quarter-final clash, however, will be Manchester City taking on Lyon.

While Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City edged past La Liga champions Real Madrid in the round-of-16 stage, French side Lyon returned from the Allianz Stadium keeping their away goal advantage intact against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus.

While Portugal’s Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica will host the matches of Atalanta vs Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich vs Barcelona, the Estádio José Alvalade will see RB Leipzig taking on Atletico Madrid and Manchester City facing Lyon.
