Confirmation kicks off summer with the release of his first single on Motor Entertainment Give it Up, a song to make you believe in yourself and start again. As a social worker managing homeless housing in Berlin, life in a time of pandemics and lockdowns only got busier for Peter Milos. Coping with the chaos through music, weekends in the studio were the light when everything else was dark, and what came out was the sound of pure optimism that’s at once uncannily nostalgic yet totally new.
“I managed to sneak away from Berlin for a motorbike trip with a close friend when the lockdowns were eased last summer and along the way I was able to resolve some stuff that had been weighing me down for years. When I got back I couldn’t stop hearing this music in my head. It was like the soundtrack to an 80’s movie where the sun comes up and life is beautiful again. In the studio, songs just started pouring out of me and I had a demo of Give it Up within a matter of minutes. I showed it to my friend Niko who had been producing stuff with me and we both knew this was the direction. We knew this was what would get us through the winter.”
Born in London to a french mother and an american father, Milos never stayed anywhere for too long, living between two continents from Paris to Montréal, LA and Philadelphia to London. The instability set him on a search for ways to connect, ultimately leading to music and social work.
Looking for musical inspiration he moved to Berlin in 2015 but was quickly side-tracked by a job in a refugee shelter. When the dust settled, he began taking on live guitar duties for various projects including Sarah P. and Losers, and soon found himself juggling tour duties with social work duties, flying out to play opening slots at the Electric Ballroom in London and rushing back to Berlin in time for work on Monday morning.
Eventually the time came to begin writing original material again and a chance encounter put him in touch with Niko Stoessl, who came up working with the likes of Depeche Mode, David Gahan, Nina Persson and Crystal Castles and producing acts such as Moto Boy and Nihils. The pair struck up a friendship that swiftly led to a musical collaboration, and they began working on Confirmation’s ideas, culminating in the release of “Motorbike” in summer 2020.
As their musical bond grew stronger, their vision became clearer and June 11th will see the release of their first offering Give it Up for Motor Entertainment - a synth-heavy pop anthem for the summer of 2021 that’s as futuristic as it is retro and as much about overcoming our collective struggles as it is about having fun and seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.
“In my own little way, just like I tell myself, if you want to get through this you’ve got to pick yourself up and do something about it. But not just that, with this song I want to tell you that you can do something about it, that you’re beautiful and that I believe in every single one of us.”
Coinciding with the release of Give it Up will be the launch of Milos’ collaborative podcast - a music and talk show documenting the stories, people and social issues that Peter and his good friend Miguel are confronted with as they navigate their lives as social workers in Germany and the USA, while showcasing the music that inspires them and keeps them going.
