In February 2021, UNICEF staff visited health facilities in Luapula Province to monitor the delivery of essential medical supplies under the COVID-19 response. As part of support to the Ministry of Health, UNICEF - with funding from the Federal Republic of Germany through the KFW Development Bank, the Swedish international development cooperation agency (Sida) and UK aid from the British people - is supplying inter-agency health kits with basic medicines to cover the needs of 5.4 million people. In addition personal protective equipment (PPE) supplies are helping protect frontline health workers, while the medical oxygen system is being supported with oxygen concentrators and the rehabilitation of the oxygen plant at Mansa General Hospital.
