Liz is an expert in Highways and Road Safety who has worked for the council in Essex, England to help with road development and planning of roads. She explores what might the future for roads look like, why can't we just build more and do you really need that car? - Maybe? After qualifying as a teacher Liz worked in a secondary school in Essex, England, teaching biology but moved to Buckinghamshire taking on a role of Road Safety officer; working in the Road safety education team, Liz developed a cycling awareness scheme, before moving back to Essex as a Senior Road Safety officer. She progressed in Essex Councty Council through Road Safety education into Road Safety Engineering, where she gained a Master’s degree and on to managing a variety of functions within Highways Dept at Essex County Council, including the ITS (intelligent transport systems) contract for period of 10 years. Liz now works within Essex Highways Dept.

Liz now oversees network management (including the traffic control centre), road safety, Streetworks, Asset management and the highway inspection function.
