Berlin clubbers held a boat demo on Sunday to support the nightclub industry and demand full scale reopening of the famous Berlin club scene.

With clubs having been shut for 15 months due to pandemic, starting this weekend the so-called 'dance ban' is lifted but only with a maximum of 250 people attending with mandatory negative COVID-19 test, and only outside.

The organisers wanted to repeat last year's action with about 3,000 participants but were not allowed to gather so many, while inflatable boats were banned from the demonstration after safety violations last year.

SOT, Sebastian (English): "We want to have our clubs open again, go to party and celebrate life. It's just different living without the clubs, and we want them to open again to dance and have fun."

SOT, Sebastian, (English): "We don't think it's good because all the other things like restaurants, bars, biergartens are open too and people are coming together. Just the clubs are closed, and yeah, we can't stand it. We need to dance, it's part of our life."
