(*Spoilers.)
Meet Karen (with an accent on the A) a West Londoner who married down, and is visiting Paris in a problematic pandemic with her husband David.

She contacts Kiki the concierge to call her daughter who works at the Chinese Embassy in Berlin. Along the way she must talk to Kiki the concierge, who gets interrupted by double-masking Sharon from D.C. who is getting her tickets to the opera, but has pushed in from on Becky from New Zealand.

Kiki puts Karen on hold to get the number and Karen hears an ad for the hotel's "day spa."
But when Karen is put through to Hanzel the German operator, he must locate the number once more, and puts her on hold to an ad for Deutche Telekom.

After much ado, Karen finally makes it through to the Chinese Embassy in Berlin.

But will she ever get to talk to her daughter? What is so important?
