In this third and final lecture on the topic of blockchain, Steve Akers explains the Ethereum public blockchain and its fascinating Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) technology. The EVM is presented and explained in relation to Bitcoin blockchain and its (very different) approach.

The concept of "smart contracts" and the process of publishing and running them within the EVM is presented. The use cases where EVM contracts can be utilized and the ramifications of using them are explored. ERC 20 Tokens are explained. Use case examples are presented to aid the viewer's understanding of the technology.

The concept of a "Layer 2" network in blockchain is presented as a way to enhance the transaction processing velocity of these networks. Scale of both Ethereum and Bitcoin transactions are discussed and a system for scaling the number of transactions possible with Bitcoin is presented.

Exchanges for trading cryptocurrencies are explained and some aspects of them are explored. Security of exchange based transactions and a system of exchanging cryptocurrencies across public blockchains without an exchange is illustrated.

The future of blockchain is discussed to conclude the series.
