A 'peepshow on wheels' booth was displayed in the centre of The Hague during a protest on Tuesday that called for a change in lockdown restrictions that would allow sex workers to return to work. As part of the protest, a sex worker and performance artist danced inside the booth as protesters gathered around with red umbrellas and signs.

Current COVID-19 restrictions were relaxed from Tuesday during an announcement made by the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, although a curfew remains in place until March 15. According to the latest government rules, contact professions including masseurs and hairdressers are allowed to reopen their businesses on Wednesday, although sex workers were left out of the change in restrictions.

In an interview, the designer of the 'Peepshow on wheels' booth Maggie Saunders explained the reasoning behind the protest initiative: "We thought this was a really great way for people to see sex workers at in a different light, as humans and it's fun and also fights stigma and makes people more aware of the problem."

"We have very high hygiene protocols and that was way before COVID ever existed so why couldn't we work now and people can give massages? Why? I don't understand," said a sex worker who is directly affected by the government restrictions and goes by the artist name of Goddess Melissa.
