The Solo Series was launched in 2019 to mark the Australian Art Orchestra’s 25th anniversary. Each month, a video was released that put the spotlight on one of twelve selected members from our pool of incredible AAO collaborators, captured in high resolution video by innovative video and audio producer, Leo Dale, accompanied by photographic portraits by Sarah Walker as well as written responses to the music by AAO Artistic Director Peter Knight. Please find the full Solo Series online: https://soloseries.aao.com.au.

In response to the COVID-19 lockdown, we decided to extend the series into 2020, and to continue to record solos by our pool of collaborators. This second instalment of the extended series features Lizzy Welsh on baroque violin.

As either soloist or chamber musician, Lizzy has been invited to perform at the Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music, the Adelaide Festival, the Melbourne International Arts Festival, the Melbourne Jazz Festival, the University of California San Diego’s Springfest, Darmstadt Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik, London Jazz Festival, Jazztopad Wrocław, Sacrum Profanum Festival (Krakow), Jazzfest Berlin, Sacred Realism (Berlin), Shanghai International Arts Festival, Shanghai New Music Week, Metropolis New Music Festival, and Wangaratta Jazz Festival, to name a few.

As a new music violinist, Lizzy has presented scores of Australian and World premieres with ensembles including the Argonaut Ensemble, Golden Fur New Music Project, ELISION Ensemble, Chamber Made, and the Australian Art Orchestra. Lizzy is Artistic Director of the Australia’s leading new music string quartet, the Argonaut String Quartet.
