Model Y is an all-electric, mid-size SUV designed for maximum versatility and safety. Model Y will start at $39,000 for the Standard Range version, and will also come in Long Range, Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive, and Performance variants. Model Y is capable in rain, snow, mud, and off-road. Tesla All-Wheel Drive has two ultra-responsive, independent electric motors that digitally control torque to the front and rear wheels—for far better handling, traction, and stability control. Off-Road Assist is designed to provide overall improvements when driving off-road. In addition to allowing the wheels to spin, Off-Road Assist balances the torque between the front and rear motors to optimize traction. Off-Road Assist improves traction on rough and soft surfaces where one side of the vehicle may lose traction while the other side still has traction. When Off-Road Assist is on, the accelerator pedal provides more gradual torque, which is useful for crawling at low speeds (for example, over rocky surfaces). When enabled, OFF-ROAD displays on the touchscreen above the driving speed. There is no clear information on how Tesla AWD work, feel free to comments any information!

Awd Diagonal Test note:
There is a minor change in our diagonal withe the Tesla Model Y Dual motor test if we use or not the Off-Road assist feature. Even if we use the Slip Start, the car will simply detect that the wheels are spinning and maximize traction. In Off-road assist mode, the wheels are spinning more, it should be the contrary. This is one of the smoother vehicles we have taken on that hill, just press slowly on the accelerator and let the car work, it's really impressive! The scrubbing sound that you hear is caused by the Ev Mup Flaps ( a must if you want to protect your paint), they are incredibly resistant. Ground clearance of a Tesla model Y is not impressive and was an issue in our diagonal hill approach. Note that this Dual Motor AWD is similar to the Model 3, Model X and Model Y, but will react slightly differently due to different suspension configuration and algorithm!
