Representatives of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland have met with Chelsea and five other elite European clubs - but he won't come cheaply

Elite clubs across Europe are currently pricing-up a transfer for Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland.

The 20-year-old has emerged as one of the hottest properties on the planet having compiled a simply staggering goalscoring record since moving to Germany - from Austrian side RB Salzburg - in January 2020.

Indeed, despite drawing a rare blank against Manchester City in the Champions League, the Norway striker has 49 goals to his name in just 50 games for the Bundesliga outfit.

Speculation over the future of Haaland intensified over the Easter weekend after his representatives - including 'super agent' Mino Raiola - were spotted in Spain amid proposed transfer talks with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Discussions with those La Liga giants were, according to reports, followed up by similar meetings at four Premier League clubs - including Chelsea and City themselves.

Haaland is thought to have a £65million release clause in his contract that will become active next season.

However, in the midst of financial complications brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, Dortmund may instead be forced to cash in on one of their most-prized assets during the summer transfer window.

A fee upwards of nine-figures has been mooted, but elite European clubs have too been hit hard by the pandemic, meaning there could first be a transfer puzzle to solve - even at Stamford Bridge.

Here, we take a look at 11 players who could potentially be sold by Chelsea in order to generate necessary funds to launch a high-profile and big-money pursuit for Haaland.

Current valuations in the market have been provided by renowned football website Transfermarkt.

Kepa Arrizabalaga

Despite signing for £72million, the Spaniard is no longer the number one choice at Stamford Bridge - having been displaced by Edouard Mendy. He still has time to forge a career that many expected at 26, but only four outings in the Premier League this campaign tells its own story. His market value has, subsequently, crashed quite significantly.

Transfer value: £11.7million

Fikayo Tomori

Currently out on loan with rejuvenated Italian giants AC Milan, it's not beyond the question that he could force his way back into the first-team picture at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel. Either way, by the time he next touches down in London, the defender is almost-certain to have matured as a result of his Serie A exposure.

Transfer value: £20million

Davide Zappacosta

Another player out on loan in Serie A, the right-sided midfielder has featured 18 times for Genoa so far this season, with two goals and as many assists to show for his efforts. Aged 28, he does have another 12 months left to run on his Chelsea deal, but that also represents the club's final chance to sell, rather than risk losing him on a free transfer.

Transfer value: £7.2million

Marcos Alonso

His time at Chelsea looked to be coming towards an end under former manager Frank Lampard. However, the wing-back has been given a new lease of life under Tuchel. Even so, with England man Ben Chilwell for competition in the same position, the Blues could at the very least listen to offers for the 30-year-old, who joined from Fiorentina, back in 2016.

Transfer value: £13million

Emerson

Three years on from an £18million switch from Roma, the Brazilian has been unable to command a regular place, as highlighted by the follow-up pursuit of Chilwell and re-emergence of Alonso. Emerson has played just the 32 games across those three seasons - with 14 months left to run on his contract.

Transfer value: £13.5million

Tiemoue Bakayoko

Yet another Chelsea player currently enjoying regular game-time in Italy. However, it's never quite gone according to plan at Stamford Bridge for the Frenchman, who arrived in 2017 for around £40million and has, ultimately, spent the majority of his spell out on a succession of loans. It might be time for the Blues to try and recoup some of that hefty outlay they splashed out on him four years ago now.

Transfer value: £25million

Danny Drinkwater.

That's all for now from Stamford Bridge.
