"My second pregnancy has been confirmed today.

Now my husband and I need to decide which sex we should assign to this one. Any recommendations?" -@EverydayisWedn3

There are things poorly educated and stupid people often get wrong. But there are also things that extremely educated and smart people often get wrong: PETA, pacifism, and transgenders in womens' sports come to mind.

I am annoyed by sacred cows. Sacred cows cause bad things to happen, for example, starving people to not eat perfectly good cows.

One sacred cow is decolonization. Why does nobody blame decolonization for the Rwandan genocide, for example? Because colonialism was culturally vanquished (though never intellectually so).

Likewise, how many people does the FDA get to kill before half of US adults want to get rid of it? Based on the past year's complete lack of interest in the topic, I'm guessing 300 million.

"Modern man—perhaps mesmerized by the phenomenon of constant progress in the physical sciences—tends to think that constant progress in morality and ethics is also inevitable. That education will inevitably produce virtue, and every day in every way we will get better and better. One would think that Nazi Germany was a sufficient demonstration of the fallacy of that thinking." -Antonin Scalia
