Andrew Yang brought the idea of Universal Basic Income to light in his 2020 presidential campaign, which ended in February. A month later, UBI entered the mainstream and is supported by many in Congress as millions of Americans have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The need for UBI and direct cash transfers are more urgent than ever for people who have lost basic access to capital to meet their needs.

Jonathan Herzog, a former campaign coordinator for Yang2020 and now a Congressional candidate for NY District 10, and Tom Shaughnessy, founder of Delphi Digital, explain this narrative shift and whether corporate bailouts have created an expectation for universal basic income policies.
