Each year on 7 April, World Health Day is observed internationally to raise awareness of the unparalleled importance of healthcare services around the globe. The annual day stands as a reminder of the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) central objective to support the provision of universally available healthcare for all – a global need that is only further highlighted by the coronavirus pandemic.

In the measurement science community, metrology institutes also play a vital role in the provision of safe and reliable health services around the world, helping to provide clinicians with the tools they need to deliver the best care possible. EURAMET continues to inspire the European measurement community to collaboratively develop innovative metrology solutions for the most pressing global healthcare challenges.

To find out more about the importance of measurement science for healthcare, watch this collaborative video made by communications and research staff at European metrology institutes – including NML (the UK National Measurement Laboratory, designated for chemical and bio-measurement), JV (the measurement institute of Norway), and PTB (the national measurement institute of Germany).
