About the Event:
On the eve of the special EU Council meeting on July 17/18, join us for a lively debate on what to expect of the package for the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and the European recovery plan. With 27 parties at the negotiation table, there will be a variety of challenges in tackling the most controversial issue between Member States and the EU institutions: distribution of funds.

While the EU wants to promote digitisation and green growth, as facilitators of economic revival, it remains to be seen where that leaves other policy priorities within the EU budgetary plan. How can the EU be financially sustainable by combining sufficient financial resources with solidarity towards those affected most by the Covid-19 crisis? Which criteria will the Member States agree on, when it comes to mixing grants and loans and their scrutiny scheme? And how will they address political and institutional repercussions that might arise of this financial package for the EU in the medium and long run? These and many more questions will be answered during this event, so join our distinguished speakers, as they dive into the most important discussion factors and levers to be witnessed in the upcoming debate.

This event is organised as part of the Reshape Europe campaign of the European Dialogue office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
