COVID-sceptics protesting against the amendment to the Infection Protection Act that were passed this morning, were detained in Berlin on Wednesday.
The protesters could be seen gathered mostly without masks, and several argued with police officers, who forcefully escorted them away.
The vote, which was voted in by the majority of MPs today sparked protests from demonstrators who believe the new change to federal restrictions ebb away at democracy, as state laws have governed the country since the second world war, to ensure no central government can take advantage of federal controls.
The amendments are to come into effect when the number of 7-day infections surpasses 100 per 100,000 inhabitants of a district or urban district for three consecutive days, and include a curfew between 22:00 and 05:00 local time (21:00 and 04:00 BST). Jogging and walks will be allowed during this time but only alone and up until midnight.
If the incidence rate passes 165, then in-person teaching in schools is to be suspended.
Additionally, a maximum of one household can meet with one other person, and funeral services will also be restricted to 30 attendees.
The law still needs to pass the Bundesrat on Thursday, and be signed by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, but the curfew rules could effectively apply from the weekend. The amendment is valid until June 30.
